We recommend washing this scarf on a gentle cycle at 30°C to prevent shrinkage and to maintain its beautiful appearance. Cleaning and air drying your laundry at lower temperatures saves energy and money and helps you minimize your carbon footprint.

The rib knit scarf was made by our Purecotz Ecolifestyles producers in Umargam, India.

We have a long-standing relationship with Purecotz that is based on transparency, friendship and working on an equal footing. Purecotz is a pilot partner of the new Fairtrade Textile Standard. The aim of the standard is to establish fair trade practices, wages and working conditions along the entire textile supply chain. Purecotz is one of the first textile factories to work according to the new standard and has agreed to increase its employees' wages beyond the current minimum wage to a living wage by 2026.

We pay attention to fair working conditions and a healthy working environment, and not just in the sewing department. From the cotton to the finished product, we can trace all ingredients and guarantee compliance with ecological standards along the entire supply chain. All of our production steps take place in the countries from which the raw materials come. This helps to maximize local added value and shorten transport routes.

Sustainability

All MELA textiles are certified according to Fairtrade Cotton, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and the Green Button. These three certifications address different points in our supply chain and complement each other in their social and environmental requirements.

Fairtrade Cotton stands for a Fairtrade minimum price and premium for cotton farmers, as well as requirements for labor rights and environmental protection in cotton cultivation.

GOTS sets ecological and social requirements for processing from raw material to the finished textile, including chemicals, wastewater, and working conditions.

The Green Button combines production requirements with the auditing of our corporate due diligence obligations.
